Vinegar? I've heard people talk up vinegar as both a clarifying shampoo OR a conditioner. Is it one or the other? Is it both? How safe are ACV rinses for curly hair?
And because I love pictures, and because y'all might not be quite sick of it yet: my hair, which is a total diva and just wants attention. I did a nice olive oil + lavender deep condition last night (rinsed with Giovanni shampoo then conditioned with DevaCurl) and it feels GOOD.

artificial sweetener equivalents. I've been making my iced tea with Sweet'N Low for years and have been wanting to cut this out for some time now. We finally finished up the last of the packets in the house and today I made the first pitcher with turbinado sugar. The Sweet'N Low website states that 1/4 cup of sugar is equal to six packets of S'NL. I use 5 packets to a pitcher, so I figured 1/4 cup should be plenty. No way. It tastes virtually unsweetened. I had to add at least another cup to the pitcher for there to be any taste difference, and as any good Southerner knows, now it's not sweet tea since the sweetener was added after the brewing process, it's just tea with sugar. And most of it just settled undissolved at the bottom of the pitcher anyway. Can anybody give me some advice, tell me what I did wrong? I'm new to turbinado so perhaps it's just not sweet enough for me? (Incidentally, I found that evaporated cane juice in bulk is much cheaper, I'm planning to buy some tomorrow.)

leather vs vegetarian shoes so this may be a bit too exact of a question, but i have to ask..
deciding solely on the global mess made, which do you think is more environmentally friendly: a pair of leather shoes or an exact replica with vegetarian leather?
the way i see it, the leather would be more environmentally friendly simply because whether or not i choose to, there are going to be people eating cows & waste not want not.. but if i were to choose vegetarian leather, we're going to have to create that from new raw materials..
what do you think? anyone know how to make rope sandals?

Postcards? Hey guys! I am an active member of PostCrossing and have no problem finding individual postcards that are environment-friendly but I was wondering if anyone knew of any bulk postcards that I could order that are made out of recycled materials. I feel that this would be a lot easier and cheaper but do not want to be just any old batch of postcards.
Hope all is well!!

Moile Navigator Has anyone here used Navigon's Mobile Navigator IPhone application? If so, how well were you able to navigate the areas you attempted to use it in? I know that more than likely it doesn't compare to something like Wayfinder Access; however, I just am not sure if it is worth actually purchasing the app, or is it better for me to just switch phones when I need navigation. Thoughts anyone?

herbs for enjoyment i would like to grow some herbs or plants that could be used for recreational enjoyment. i'd like to have some things that could be smoked, made into a tincture, or a tea. i'm hoping to grow anything that has a relaxing, comforting effect, as well as any possible aphrodisiacs, but i'm not sure what could be successful indoors. any suggestions?
*anything besides marijuana? i appreciate the suggestion, but not really what i'm looking for*

Vitamin's for hair, skin and nails. Hello natural livers (live-ers, that is).
I went to the store to day to try and figure out what is the best way for me to get the vitamins I want to start taking for hair, skin and nails. Mainly what I am interest in is: evening primrose oil, biotin and silica, possibly MSM as well. I am wondering what is the maximum amount of each of these that your body can absorb, if anyone knows?
Or, alternatively, does anyone know of a great multi for this kind of stuff? Vegetarian preferred, but not necessary, cost effective is necessary. I am trying to decide if it is more cost effective to just by separate supplements or a multi, but so far all of the multis I have found have very little of each of these things in it, and a whole bunch of other stuff, I already take a multi so I am set on that, just looking to add some specific stuff.
TIA!!!

Elimination diet aimed at solving acne/eczema Hi everyone, I'd like to clear up some mild eczema and acne that have been troubling me for a while, and I'm considering try an elimination diet to see if it's a food allergy or intolerance that is causing the symptoms. I've read up on acne and elimination diets in the memories, but I haven't been able to find a guide to how to do an elimination diet at home. Two questions: 1. I know there are a few different types of elimination diet. Is there one more likely to fix eczema and/or acne? I don't want to have to do a hardcore elimination diet if those two symptoms are typically related to say, wheat or dairy. If there's a typical offender, I'll focus on removing that first. 2. Ideally I'd like to find instructions for how to do a basic elimination diet at home. I couldn't see one in memories. Does anyone have a link or a recommendation of a book that explains what to do? Thanks in advance!

Anal play and hemorrhoids? So I am a 27 year old female and have enjoyed anal play with past partners, mostly just rimming. Recently I have had some problems with external hemorrhoids and although they have seemed to go away for the time being, I am left with some extra skin, skin tags I think. Now that I have a new partner I am worried that I will no longer be able to receive something that I very much enjoy for fear of how it looks and possibly feels. This is so embarrassing and I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I am even embarrassed to 69 while I am on top because that area is visible. I feel that this issue is greatly inhibiting me!

Bloody smell during period sex Soooo...my boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship. I was supposed to fly out to see him yesterday, but he got picked for jury duty and we canceled. We decided that not this weekend, but next weekend, I'll come visit.
The bad news is, I'll probably be having my period that weekend. I really want to get laid, but the problem is that my boyfriend and I don't like period sex because it smells. Like...you know, blood. And if my boyfriend were Edward Cullen, I'm sure that'd be just fine, but he's not (fortunately). Neither he nor I like that smell, and considering I will be visiting him on my heaviest days, it will be very, very present.
Is the only way to fix this by having sex in the shower (something we've tried and failed miserably at, multiple times)? Because if so, then I shall be very disappointed. And I can't use an Instead cup because we've tried them before and they just...are super uncomfortable during sex and I also have an IUD.
Suggestions?

Essential Oils and Anal Safety: DON'T READ IF SQUEAMISH Does anyone know what, if any, essential oils are safe to apply (diluted of course) to one's anus? And as far as dilution, what would be the best medium for say a spray or a liquid to put onto a cloth and wipe the area? Water, glycerin, witch hazel, hydrogen peroxide? I wouldn't want to use a carrier oil I don't think, no one wants an oily butt. Sorry if some of these are terrible ideas, I really don't know much about anal health! I realize different EOs and different dilution mediums may be better for specific things. I'm primarily concerned with what is OK and safe to put on your anus.
I am asking this because I am kind of obsessive about anal cleanliness for a variety of reasons.
1) I used to get anal fissures along with anal fungal infections.
2) I've been more sexually active than usual as of late and I think it has caused me to develop a UTI, (I don't want advice about this I am going to the doctor as soon as I can and doing other stuff in the meantime and will go to the ER if necessary) either due to E. Coli, an allergic reaction to latex, lubricants, or spermicides, or just the sex in general.
3) Sometimes my anus gets really itchy for no apparent reason. Again not looking for advice here, as this can be anything from cancer to pinworms to caffeine or stress.
So basically I am looking to make some kind of spray or wipe that can be safely used on the anus with cleansing and soothing properties.
Thank you!

natural pig feed So,I'm getting a pig for christmas.I've been researching like mad and most all of the sources say 'pellet feed' for pigs, however,I really wanted to try and feed him something more 'natural' and not just processed food.I looked up what a pig would eat in the wild and that didn't really help either (insects, roots, whatever is in your garden, etc). And seeing as this little pig is going to be like,my baby,I want him to have good nutrition and be sure he's getting what he needs to be healthy, and not just fattening him up (I have a feeling most generic pig feeds are solely corn - not interested)
If anyone has experience or can lead me to other sources,it would be suuuppper appreciated. And since I'm posting anyways - I'll be giving him a bath at least once a month, would it be alright to just use baking soda as his wash,or will it dry his skin out too much? thanks so much!!

![[User Picture]](http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/44794632/236451) [Link] | Alright- I know you are all probably sick of the SIGG/various brand bottle posts but I've been googling for awhile and it's driving me crazy.
I'm trying to find a BPA/etc free travel thermos for things like hot tea and coffee. I know SIGG has thermos mugs and all but I'm looking for something that is easy to open and close while driving without threatening to cover my lap in a steaming hot beverage.
I will take any and all suggestions, I do recall seeing a thermos specifically for tea too that had this little compartment for tea bags/loose leaves.. if anybody can recall who makes that, let me know, please?

kind of a disturbing question about post-stitches clean-up so i've recently (last tuesday) had 5 stitches removed on the tip of my finger, and it has been healing without infection (phew!). unfortunately, it looks as though there is dried blood stuck underneath the 'flap' of skin that got separated due to the mandoline slicer, and it can not fully closeup with that dried blood there (at least i think that's what the problem is). i am very nervous to mess with it, as i don't want the wound reopening completely and bleeding again. how the heck to i clean out the dried blood? it actually feels like the 'flap' is hard and maybe it's dead skin/scab? i'd rather not go to the doctor and have someone else poke and prod at my still-delicate finger tip.
also, it's normal to have little black dots where the stitches came in/out of the skin, right? it looks strange and i can't stop checking it out (obviously, my first time getting stitches...heh)
and on a completely different note: what's the best thing to use to wipe down a litter box sans bag and litter to get rid of urine smell? since cat's are very sensitive to smell, i don't want to use anything that will discourage them from using it once i have wiped it down.

clogged pores Although my acne is somewhat more under control since going on Yaz (since a good percentage of my acne seems to be hormonal), I still a recurring issue that I imagine does at least contribute to the continued acne, as well as just being irritating and rawr. Clogged pores. I do use OCM (castor/sweet almond or apricot kernal) and that had made a dent over the past year. But it does not totally solve the problem. Thus, I am making this post to ask for those of you who've dealt with (often stubborn) clogged pores, have you been able to remedy the issue and if so, what worked for you?
I have tried many masks, clay and otherwise, including ones that claim to pull the gunk out (I don't even remember all I've tried at this point). All that happens usually is they suck the oil up, but all the clogs/gunk I can see in my pores just stays put and my face is just extra dry.
On a side note, I'm living in Shanghai, China (may impact availability of some things).
Thanks in advance :)
Oh, and while I'm posting, has anyone had success with taking tumeric internally for acne?
